Hey Badger! I made the cosplay mostly out of cardboard. I also used foam, velcro, elastic bands, acrylic paint and some wood sticks to attach the wings to the backpack. I put some transparent plastic on the chest so i could put some light and painted curtain fabric so i could see through the "eye".
As you said, it isnt too heavy but it can break easily especially when you walk.
I had the yellow part of the wings (made of cardboard, paper and acrylic paint) but i couldnt put them bcs of the crowd. :(

Absolute peak! What materials did you use? that genuinely looks well made and not a bit too top heavy like the other v1 cosplays i've seen.
