The wind howled fiercely, biting and whipping against his face as he soared through the brilliant blue sky alongside her. She radiated pure joy, her eyes sparkling with laughter as she smiled broadly, a vision of happiness unburdened by the weight of past sorrows. It was a stark contrast to the crying dragon he had known just a month ago. With a swift, playful dart beneath him, she executed a stunning barrel roll, her scales glinting in the sun, and shouted over the roaring wind, “Race you to that cloud!” In an exhilarating blur, she shot ahead, leaving him momentarily taken aback, but he quickly grunted and pursued her with determination. To his astonishment, she reached the puffy white cloud first. With a triumphant whoop, she tumbled and rolled joyfully among the cotton-like formations, her laughter mingling with the rush of the wind.
But then, a tiny movement caught his keen eye—a fleeting blur that seemed to follow their every move. He focused intently, but it was elusive, vanishing into the misty cloud cover. Surely, it had to be a RainWing or an IceWing, adept at blending seamlessly into their surroundings. He turned to her, urgency sharpening his voice as he said in hushed tones, “Shhh! I think someone’s following us. Let’s act normal, but we must stay alert. We’re being watched.” Her smile faltered slightly, the lightness of her laughter replaced with a hint of concern, and he ached to see her bask in the happiness she had shown just moments before.
Then, out of the corner of his eye, he caught the flash of the blur again—this time looming just above her. Before he could react, the figure struck, crashing into Ethereal with an ethereal grace that sent her spiraling, but she quickly regained her footing and bolted away. To his horror, he recognized the ice-cold glint of an IceWing. Panic surged through him. He couldn’t afford to dwell on the implications; he had to act swiftly. Taking swift action, Damond positioned himself beneath the IceWing, honing in on its chest with lethal intent. The IceWing’s maw opened wide, ice breath ready to unleash upon its quarry—its princess, its queen, the love of his life.
With a powerful spin, Damond struck the IceWing squarely in the chest and jaw, sending it flipping through the air. He chased it down as they plummeted, his instincts driving him to be relentless. (Continued in the chats if you want to continuse reading)
