(If you're wondering what the hell happened to this boi/gn)
this is a normal part of a Cistulis' life cycle. Their lil wavy things detach and their 'horns' start growing in. Some specimens who've developed these large spine-like things on their backs and necks shed those for smoler ones, then grow back the big ones alongside those, much like Kaleidoscope here
They also look really goofy in this phase, especially the anthro ones
idk man there's more that happens too but it's hard to demonstrate with just 1 Cistulis due to how ridiculously diverse they are
dw they'll get the wavy thingies back and then they'll look all cool n stuff with the new cool features
(this isn't technically puberty, more like a much less severe form of metamorphosis, like minus the part where you melt into a soup and then put yourself back together especially)
