My friends played Forsaken the other day. None of us had for nearly a year, and they decided to hop on the game as a bit and stream it to me because I refused to join.

I used to love Forsaken. I was massively hyperfixated on it and its characters. There's a lot of Forsaken art in my gallery. The game had so much... potential?

But goodness, when they entered the game, it'd changed so much in ways that didn't really matter. The shop felt so much more predatory. There was far more monetisation and it felt malicious. And yet I still recognised the gameplay loop exactly how it was.

I like the core idea of this game. A bunch of people, bad in different ways, subjected to a hellscape. But it doesn't feel like they're leaning into that. (Or didn't, in the time I played it. Let me know if that's changed, I guess.)
