STORY:

17 years ago, a young kitsune ran away from a home where words fell on deaf ears and many thousand-year traditions were put over modern ideals. Married to a drunkard at 15, whose face she had never even had a glimpse of before and whose claws scarred her face and body, never to leave the marriage all for the sake of 'tradition' and 'honor'.

And yet, only two went against these ideals.

After three years of torment in this marital cage of hers, she and her brother conjured a plan. With keys to a barely paid off apartment and enough coin until she found a place to work, she went off.

With nothing but a will to be free and an older brother with similar moral ideals as her, it was clear she'd never make it far.

Unfortunately for her, missing posters and papers scoured the town as if her kinsfolk cared, spreading the stares when she walked near and conversations that would stop when she listened. She'd think, "Well, I'm a kitsune. A being of magic whose species has lived out and thrived centuries before mankind. No human would dare collect my bounty with a creature such as I." What she didn't realize was that it wasn't only humans looking for her.

Being two steps ahead, a former allied kitsune clan of theirs named the Dark Clan caught onto her scarred face, recognizing her immediately and surrounding her within moments. Just when her traumatized, terrified mind thought freedom was sealed once and for all...

A compromise was made.

WOOOOO! I actually can't believe I typed and drew allthat. One of my better lore drops than usual, I focused more on the writing than the art, so if my drawing looks bad, y'know.

A few details for more context:
• Kray was 18 when she left and 35 in the present time. So this is chronologically correct.

• When a Kitsune is in their human form, they retain Kitsune features depending on how long they're 'human' (Kitsune ears, sharp teeth, Kitsune fur marks/patterns). The longer they're in human form, the more these features disappear. This is why Kray no longer has these looks when she's older.

• Yes, her first husband is why one of Kray's eyes is missing, hence the "Claws scared her face" part of the writing.
