Art Course Notes + Style Exploration- Mezzomo

These are some notes from an art course I took earlier this week. I found a new way to apply it to my art currently. It's considered beginner level stuff but it was helpful to see it explained in a way I hadn't heard before. I noticed as well, since adopting the method of drawing in greyscale first, that my understanding of the relationship between colors and value were a bit lacking.

I was also taking notes on how I could improve my understanding of form despite having this less-shapey drawing style via lasso brush. Since drawing this way doesn't require me to use lines, it can take some time to really think about what I'm trying to depict, and how it moves! Sometimes I have to etch out little bit by little bit, other times I get most of the shape done and carve the details out of it. The picture on the right of 04... has a lot of iterations, it was really difficult. The best way, I think, to convey form in this style is to study it for one, and for two, to utilize highlights and shadows. I don't have an issue with it looking flat, but when I want it to have the look of 3 dimensions, it can help.
