(2) “She’s in charge of this all. The academy, the assassins, even the magic.” The fox flicked her left ear, Moon noticed one was floppy like a dog’s ear. There was another moment of silence. “What’s your name? Mine’s Thistle.”
“My name’s Moon, nice to meet you,” Moon replied.
She may have just made her first friend.

(1) Chapter 4
Riverwatch training academy for assassins (TAA)
Moon
Moon glanced back at the direction the thief had gone. She sighed. There was something…familiar about him. Something that begged for attention. She brushed off the thought, focusing on the way ahead.

“This is amazing,” she breathed.
The white fox shrugged. “It’s only an abandoned den. Whoever made it certainly knew how to build.” “Why would they just leave it?” She gazed around, foxes were sparring, talking, even sleeping. Like they felt safe. “Nowhere is safe.” Moon almost screamed. She flicked her head around the ruins. No one seemed to pay her any attention.
“Nowhere is safe,” the soft voice repeated. “But I can help with that,”
What do you mean? Moon demanded.
“I think you know. Your brother is gone, your only friend, you left him. All these foxes, believe it or not, see you as a threat. Even Blizzard.”
Who? Moon looked to the white fox leading her through the withered ruins. His name is Blizzard?
“Alas, many things are still unknown, especially for you.”
Get out of my head.
“You won’t survive on your own.”
GET. OUT.
“But I can make you survive.”
Moon stayed silent.
“Think about it. I’ll be back, young one.”
Wait
Silence
“Yes?”
What do I need to do?
“I knew you’d see the right choice.”
Moon didn’t know what she just agreed to, but the voice said they’d help, and that’s what she needed.

“Tomorrow, the initiation begins,” Blizzard said as he led Moon into a dorm-like room. “This is where the other female recruits will sleep,” he explained. Moon tuned him out. She was too busy with remembering the chilling voice. I made the right choice, she told herself. She kept telling herself that, until she realized she was all alone, except for one other fox. Her fur was a light wine red and she had marigold-yellow eyes. “Hey,” she said, when she noticed her staring.
“Hi,” she replied, trying to sound casual. Then there was an awkward silence. Moon noticed there was this weird cushiony thing by a large gap in the wall. It was large, but Moon could jump onto it. She leapt, and stumbled as her steady landing was unbalanced by the soft surface. She almost face planted, if it weren’t for the hard wooden board that broke her fall. She gazed upward. This thing is huge. “Who made this?” She muttered. “I don’t know,” The wine-red fox replied. “Maybe it was the High Mage? I hear she’s REALLY good with magic.”
“The High Mage?” Moon asked, interest pricking her blue-grey fur.
