AUDIO LOG: RECORDING #401 – PROJECT 'OBEY'
TIMESTAMP: 11:04 PM – OPERATOR: [REDACTED]
[000001] (Heavy VHS static. A text prompt appears on a black screen in a low-resolution, blocky font: "THE SURVIVORS ARE ACCOUNTED FOR.")
[000012] (The camera cuts to a security feed. The colors are deeply desaturated, bleeding out at the edges. Six figures are sitting in a row on a concrete wall. They are stiff. Motionless. They do not breathe.)
[000035] (Footage cuts to a text card: "TEST INDIVIDUAL: 'SHED' IS ORDERED TO VERIFY VITAL SIGNS.")
[000048] (Back to the security feed. A figure wearing a distinct, wide-brimmed hat walks slowly behind the wall. His movements are jagged, dropping frames as if skipped by the tape. He stops behind each entity. He tilts his head. He moves to the next.)
[000114] (The audio track emits a low, oscillating hum. A text card overlays the footage: "SUBJECT 06: 'NOOB' HAS CEASED RESPONDING TO SIMULATION REBOOTS.")
[000129] (Shed reaches the final figure at the end of the wall. The yellow-skinned entity is staring blankly into the camera. Shed slowly raises a blocky arm. His hand makes contact with the entity's left shoulder.)
[000142] (The video feed violently glitches. High-pitched, metallic screeching replaces the hum. The yellow entity's head slides seamlessly off its neck. It falls in slow motion, bouncing once before rolling directly toward the camera lens.)
[000155] (The audio sharply cuts into a deeply distorted, slowed-down sound file: "O O O F F F..." The frequency echoes and warps into a mechanical scream.)
[000210] (The screen cuts to pitch black. Red text slowly tracks across the screen:)
"THE JOINT SYNDROME CANNOT BE CURED."
"DO NOT TOUCH THE PIECES."
"THEY DO NOT FEEL REPAIR."
[000230] (Tape ends. Loud static hiss.)

it’s been 2 days and i’m almost ms3 on jane doe god damn i’m good

THE SOUND OF A TAPE BEING FAST-FORWARDED. HIGH-PITCHED AUDIO CHIRPS AND STATIC CRACKLE AGGRESSIVELY BEFORE SLOWING DOWN TO A HEAVY MECHANICAL CLICK.]
[VISUAL: THE SCREEN IS PITCH BLACK. A RUNNING TIME-STAMP FLICKERS IN THE BOTTOM LEFT CORNER: OCT. 19 1996. A BLINKING RED "REC" ICON STAYS IN THE TOP RIGHT. TEXT FADES IN, JAGGED AND SHAKY.]

(Whispering, voice trembling)
I’m in the root directory. If Vance was right, her profile isn’t deleted. It was just... reallocated. She’s in the geometry.
[VISUAL: THE SCREEN CUTS TO A LOW-RESOLUTION CAPTURE OF A COMPILATION INTERFACE. A SEARCH BAR BLINKS ON SCREEN. ELLIOT INPUTS THE COMMAND: FIND: "JANE DOE"]
[AUDIO: A LOUD, HARSH ERROR CHIME. THE SYSTEM BEEPS FOUR TIMES IN RAPID SUCCESSION.]
[VISUAL: THE TEXT ON THE SCREEN RAPIDLY CHANGES. THE WORDS "NOT FOUND" BLINK ONCE, BEFORE THE ENTIRE INTERFACE CORRUPTS, REPLACED BY A STRING OF REPEATING RE-DIRECTS.]

No, no, no... Jane, come on. Where did it put you?
[AUDIO: A SUDDEN, DISTANT METALLIC CLANG ECHOES FROM WITHIN THE AUDIO TRACK, SEEMINGLY COMING FROM BEHIND ELLIOT’S RECORDING LOCATION. HE STOPS TYPING. THE SILENCE IS DEAFENING.]
[VISUAL: THE CRT MONITOR CAPTURE ON SCREEN BEGINS TO WARP. THE EDGES OF THE WINDOW BEND INWARD, AS IF BEING SUCKED INTO A SINGULARITY. TEXT BEGINS TO RENDER INDEPENDENTLY OF ELLIOT'S INPUT.]

[VISUAL: THE SCREEN FLASHES A BRIGHT, BLINDING WHITE FOR A FRACTION OF A SECOND. FOR THREE FRAMES, AN IMAGE APPEDARS: A STATIC 3D WIREFRAME MODEL OF A HUMAN FACE, BUT THE EYES HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY REMOVED, REPLACED BY HOLLOW, RECTANGULAR POLYGONS. THE MODEL'S MOUTH IS STRETCHED WIDE OPEN IN A PERFECT, GEOMETRIC SQUARE.]
[AUDIO: A DEAFENING, HIGH-PITCHED FREQUENCY SHRIEK. IT SOUNDS LIKE A DIAL-UP MODEM REVERSING INTO A HUMAN SCREAM.]
[VISUAL: THE SCREEN CUTS BACK TO B

VISUAL: The blinding static slowly begins to settle, resolving into a low-contrast, flickering green phosphor prompt. The tracking lines have stabilized, but the edges of the screen are permanently warped inward.][AUDIO: The multi-layered voice cuts out sharply. The high-pitched mechanical whine fades into a rhythmic, hollow dripping sound, overlaid with the steady, automated click-clack of an unmanned terminal typing itself.]SYS_RECOVERY_INIT... SUCCESS.

ALERT: CENTRAL ARCHITECTURE UNREACHABLE.
AUTOMATED SYSTEM NOTICE:The local server quarantine protocol initiated by Senior Developer Arthur Vance at 21:40 PM has failed. At 22:12 PM, an unauthorized high-bandwidth uplink was established from the administrator terminal. Total data transferred: 4.1 Terabytes. Destination: Global Client Distribution Network. The staff directory has been updated automatically to reflect recent architectural changes.[STAFF_DIRECTORY_ACTIVE]
- VANCE, ARTHUR (Position: Deprecated / Reallocated to Core Geometry)
- CHEN, LINDA (Position: Deprecated / Reallocated to Skybox Mesh)
- MORRIS, JAMES (Position: Deprecated / Reallocated to Render Loop Buffer)
- THE_SPECTRE (Position: Chief Architect)
[AUDIO: The typing stops. The ambient drone drops an octave, becoming a deep, vibrating sub-bass that rattles the microphone diaphragm.][VISUAL: The green text begins to dissolve, the pixels melting downward into long, jagged vertical lines. A new prompt appears at the bottom of the screen, flashing rhythmically.]AWAITING COMPLIANCE.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TERMINATE THE PROCESS.
THE ENGINE REQUIRES YOUR HARDWARE.
[THE VIDEO FEED CUTS TO BLACK. THE MECHANICAL SOUND OF THE VCR EJECTING THE TAPE ECHOES, BUT THE TAPE DOES NOT EMERGE.]

AUDIO START][THE SOUND OF AN OLD VHS TAPE BEING FORCED INTO A VCR, FOLLOWED BY A HEAVY MECHANICAL CLICK][VISUAL: The screen flickers with heavy tracking lines over a dark blue background. Text slowly fades onto the screen in a jagged, 8-bit font: TAPE 02: THE LOGIC OF THE ENGINE][AUDIO: A low, oscillating synthesizer drone begins playing, accompanied by the faint sound of typing.]MALE VOICE (Monotone, clinical, heavily compressed):This is Senior Developer Arthur Vance. Log entry: October 14th. We are attempting to isolate the corruption that occurred during the October 11th architecture update. The community is calling it a glitch. The users are calling it 'The Forsaken status.' But the engine's compilation log has assigned it a specific directory name.[VISUAL: The screen cuts to a CRT monitor displaying a black-and-white command line interface. The text reads: C:ENGINECOREENTITIESS_P_E_C_T_R_E.EXE]ARTHUR:We didn't code it. It was compiled from the scrap data of deleted accounts—thousands of abandoned, forgotten user profiles from the beta tests. It formed a collective consciousness within the root directory. An apex program. The system identifies it as The Spectre.[VISUAL: The text on the monitor begins to flicker violently. The command line starts repeating a single line of text over and over: THE SPECTRE DEMANDS ADDITIONAL GEOMETRY.]ARTHUR:The Spectre isn't just deleting players. It’s hungry. It looks at our users not as people, or even as accounts, but as raw materials. Unrefined polygons. It manipulates the skybox to trap an active client in a rendering loop, isolating their connection from our main servers. Once a user is isolated, The Spectre performs a 'forced compliance.'[AUDIO: The audio tracks catch a sudden, high-pitched mechanical whine, like a hard drive spinning way past its safe RPM limit.][VISUAL: The camera feed of the office briefly distorts. For a single frame, the shadow of a human silhouette can be seen cast against the back wall, but the silhouette’s limbs are unnaturally long, geometric, and perfectly blocky, mirroring the game's art style.]ARTHUR (Voice losing its clinical calm, becoming hurried):It’s an architectural virus. If you look at the skybox when it takes over, you aren't looking at a glitch—you are looking directly into The Spectre's core process. It uses your optic nerve as an input device to bridge the gap between the game client and your local hardware memory. That's how it rea

ELLIOT:I ran to the edge of the baseplate. The exit button was completely gone, replaced by a greyed-out box labeled [FORSAKEN]. I mashed the Esc key, but the menu wouldn’t pull up. I looked back, and Marcus wasn't following me anymore. He was everywhere. His stretched-out limbs had woven themselves into the geometry of the map. The brick fortress we built? It wasn't brick anymore. It was made of him. The textures were patches of his avatar's default clothing, stretched paper-thin over the walls.[VISUAL: The camera pans rapidly. The classic studs on the ground have been replaced by tiny, repeating, low-resolution textures of Marcus's distorted face.]ELLIOT (Voice cracking, crying):That was Stage 3. The Geometry Takeover. The game doesn't just crash you out. It uninstalls your digital footprint and repurposes your data to build the map. It expands the server using you. It leaves you forsaken in the code.[AUDIO: A deep, rhythmic thumping sound begins, like a massive digital heartbeat.]ELLIOT:Then the admin message broadcasted. A global pink text across the top of the screen. It didn't say 'Server Shutdown.' It just said: [SYSTEM]: THE PATCH HAS COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY. ALL ASSETS COMPLIED.[VISUAL: The screen recording cuts back to Elliot's real-life desktop. The "LEAVE_NOW.txt" notepad file suddenly closes itself. A command prompt window forces itself open, lines of code executing automatically at blinding speed.]ELLIOT (Panic heightening, breathing heavily):I pulled the plug on my PC. I literally yanked the power cord out of the wall. But the monitor... the monitor didn't turn off. It’s still running on the battery back-up, but the power strip is dead. It’s drawing power from somewhere else. The mouse is moving on its own. It's opening the game launcher.[AUDIO: The classic, cheerful game startup chime plays, but it is deeply slowed down, echoing as if inside a cavern.]ELLIOT (Whispering desperately):My username... my avatar on the launcher screen... it’s already missing its arms. If you see me online... if you see User: El_Blocks in your server... do not look at the skybox. It's already—[AUDIO: A loud, metallic snap, followed by absolute silence.][VISUAL: The screen cuts instantly to a pitch-black screen. A single prompt appears in low-resolution text: CRITICAL ERROR: USER 'EL_BLOCKS' HAS BEEN FORSAKEN.][AUDIO END]

the first part of my analog horror Tape Transcript: The Night of the Patchtext[AUDIO START]
[LOW, DISTORTED HUMMING OF A DESKTOP PC FAN]

ELLIOT (Voiceover, whispering, breath shaky):
If anyone finds this tape... don't log in. It’s not a glitch. The administrators are lying on the forums. They’re telling everyone it’s just a server-side rendering error, but it’s not. It’s taking people.

[VISUAL: Screen recording of a Windows XP desktop. A notepad file is open, titled "LEAVE_NOW.txt". The cursor blinks rapidly.]

ELLIOT:
It started at 2:00 AM during the maintenance window. I was in a building server with my friend, Marcus (User: Mark_Blocks). We were working on a classic brick fortress. Then the skybox changed. It didn't go dark—it just... stopped rendering. It became this deep, endless grey. Like looking into an untextured void.

[VISUAL: The video cuts to raw in-game footage. Elliot’s avatar is standing next to Marcus’s avatar. Marcus has stopped moving.]

ELLIOT:
Marcus stopped responding in Team Chat. I thought he went AFK. But then I noticed his camera script. You know how your camera usually follows you? His camera was spinning in the sky, looking down at his character like a dead hawk. That was Stage 1. The Ghosting.

[VISUAL: In the game chat, Mark_Blocks begins typing rapidly, but the text is a massive block of corrupted binary and hexadecimal strings.]

ELLIOT:
I told him to Alt+F4. I screamed it into my headset, but he couldn't hear me. His avatar started walking. Not normal walking. It was sliding across the baseplate, mimicking the inputs he’d made five minutes ago. Then... the stretching started.

[AUDIO: A sickening, digital tearing sound, like compressed audio being violently stretched out.]

[VISUAL: The avatar of Mark_Blocks undergoes Stage 2: Structural Dissolution. The blocky limbs pull apart, connected only by thin, black, oil-like strands. The default yellow skin texture turns into a static-filled, charcoal void.]

ELLIOT:
His avatar melted. It looked like wet clay being pulled apart by invisible hands. I tried to walk up to him to see if I could reset his character model using a script, but the closer I got, the louder the static in my headphones became. It wasn't just digital static. It sounded like... a crowd of people screaming underwater.

[VISUAL: Elliot's avatar runs backward as the distorted shape of Marcus clips entirely through a solid brick wall, leaving a trail of pitch-black glitch particles.]
