Exceptions may be made if I already know you.

β³ The Object Head Community Artspace is, again and quite simply, a welcoming little haven for object head enthusiasts such as myself!
Whether youβre someone who has merely stumbled upon an object head character in some form of media and thought, βYes, this is rather splendid,β or youβre a long-time admirer with a deep appreciation for the concept as a whole, you are more than welcome here!
It truly does not matter if your interest lies in established characters from existing works or entirely original creations of your own imagination; OCs, official characters, or anything in between are all equally valued.
In short, if you have even the slightest fondness for object heads, you are cordially invited to join us! No prior expertise is required, no formal invitation necessary, just bring your enthusiasm [and perhaps a reasonable respect for others], and you shall fit in quite nicely!
Inside, we mostly chat, loiter about respectfully, and share our artwork; fairly standard community business, really. We also occasionally host little art jams, where we gather to draw object head characters/OCs together!
Fanart, OCs, AUs, shipping, and the like are all perfectly welcome here, of course. Do feel free to be wonderfully creative, just try not to burn the establishment down in your enthusiasm! Wink wink nudge nudge/j
[ IMPORTANT NOTE : This is an object head fan community, and membership is intended for those who genuinely enjoy and appreciate object heads as a concept. Having an object head OC or sona is perfectly welcome, provided you are also a fan of object heads themselves. However, if your only connection is simply owning an object head character and no actual interest in the community or genre, then this may not be the right space for you. We do so value shared enthusiasm here, you see ]
β³ It may be worth taking a moment to explain what an βobject headβ actually is. Surprisingly, it is not a widely recognised term, and it is entirely possible you may already enjoy object head characters without even realising there is a name for them. Rather like discovering youβve been part of a club you didnβt know existed, heh.
So, what exactly is an object head?
An object head is a type of character design in which a human-like body is paired with an inanimate object, or sometimes a piece of technology, in place of a traditional human head. The body remains humanoid, but the head is replaced entirely by something else, such as a television, clock, lamp, camera, mask, etc.
The idea is flexible, and there are no strict limits on what the βheadβ can be. Many designs use simple, everyday objects, while others lean more abstract or imaginative. A television-headed character is one of the more recognisable examples in online art spaces. In other cases, the head may be something entirely surreal, such as a star, void, or other cosmic form.
This openness is part of why object heads appear so frequently in digital art communities and character design spaces; they allow for an enormous amount of creative expression and individuality.
[ Though, truthfully and in my opinion, an object head can be practically anything, and I do mean that rather literally. What makes a character an object head is not the type of body they possess, but rather the fact that their head is, well⦠an object. The body itself can be humanoid, robotic, animalistic, eldritch, god-like, mildly unsettling, wonderfully bizarre, or something so peculiar that language itself gives up trying to describe it. So yes, provided the character has some form of body and their head is an object, it would generally be classified as an object head character. The possibilities are delightfully endless, which is rather the beauty of it all! ]
Fun fact: There is also a related Japanese term: igyΕtΕ (η°ε½’ι ). The word igyΕ (η°ε½’) means βstrange-shapedβ or βnon-typical form,β anything that means "strange", while tΕ (ι ) means βhead.β Together, you got igyΕtΕ! It refers to characters with human-like bodies and unusual or non-human heads. In online communities, igyΕtΕ or igyΕ head is used alongside βobject headβ to describe the same general concept, although it's a even more less popular term.
Oh! And a small note, if I may: object show characters and object head characters are not quite the same thing. Object show characters are typically the objects themselves, usually sporting charming little stick-like limbs. Object head characters, meanwhile, are humanoid figures with objects for heads. By now, I trust youβve gathered the idea.
[ Please do not join this Artspace solely because of OSC. While there may be some overlap in appearance, the object head community is an entirely separate fandom with its own interests and creative focus. You lovely lot already have a OSC artspaces somewhere, and this one is intended specifically for object head enthusiasts. I do beg for a smidge of understanding on this matter ]
[ I felt it worth explaining the term, because AGAIN, seeing as βobject headβ is surprisingly not very well known, despite a fair few recognisable characters falling under it [take Tenna from Deltarune for example]. As such, I thought it best to include a proper explanation here, partly for clarity, and partly to spare myself from answering βWhat is an object head?β seventeen times a day.... ]
