Probably my first Star Wars piece. I did use a couple of reference images but the idea for this character and her portrayal WAS original. Worked way too long on the hand :). That's all folks, have a wonderfully whimsy day.

Hello! My name is DefiantPlatycornia. Since I am still an art beginner (I started late), you may not see the greatest quality here, but I do my best. I technically do extremely well on paper but sometimes I simply must draw digitaly. Enjoy, please comment and like!!!!

“Hope” is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -
And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard -
And sore must be the storm -
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm -
I’ve heard it in the chillest land -
And on the strangest Sea -
Yet - never - in Extremity,
It asked a crumb - of me.

Warning: some of these facts get a bit dark. If you’re prone to high and intense emotions and don’t want to hear some of the heavier, more solemn stuff, please feel free to read just the first three and last four paragraphs. If you don’t agree with this post at all, do not be angry. It is an open minded reminder. Have fun. Well, not fun, but be INSPIRED.
I made this art out of the many things I’ve been reading about the battle against sexism.
A ton of people say a lot of things that aren’t true about this female discrimination. Like this:
“Catcalls and street discrimination is a compliment!”
“Sexism is so old, it’s not even happening anymore.”
The list goes on
And on
And on.
I don’t think it’s a compliment when….
Every eleven minutes a female is killed by a member of her own family.
A woman is 47% more likely to be hurt in a car crash because automobile safety was designed for the “average male body”.
Women are two to four times as likely to face gender discrimination, especially at work.
It certainly doesn’t change the fact that 90 percent of the world has some kind of unkind bias against women. And don’t even get me started on sexual and domestic abuse.
So, I made this post not to make people angry, but just to politely let people know that sexism is sitll happening, but it’s not unsolvable.
Are women really so bad? Is it so wrong that females should receive equal pay, better treatment, and maybe even have more that 27 out of 193 female heads of government?
Come on guys, we can do this. This post isn’t meant to judge your thoughts on gender or to make people angry. This is just to ask you to give feminism a chance- advocacy, better pay, possibly even some more rights. Childcare should also be less stressful for single or divorced mothers who have to work and look after children at roughly the same time.
Go home today and maybe talk to someone about these very real, very current problems. Most of the problem with people supporting sexism is ignorance and lack of awareness about the glass ceiling over the ladies. Please, please keep comments positive and respectful as this is purely meant to be a well-impacting dream.
