the real general of tomfoolery
Anne of Cleves was actually not an unattractive woman like Henry VIII exclaimed. Henry VIII was deeply selfish. Always putting his own desires in front of others. When he saw that Anne of Cleves was just SLIGHTLY different from her portrait, he crashed, and was heavily disappointed that she wasn't the perfect little unrealistic doll-faced girl like he thought. The only difference Anne of Cleves had from her portrait was her face, and it wasn't even that far apart from the painting. Her nose was only slightly bigger, and her face didn't look like a little porcelain doll. Henry VIII also just didn't like the fact that she was German and how hard it was to communicate with her. Anne of Cleves was treated horribly. Dealing with public humiliation and slander. It was a blessing that she made it out of Henry VIII's arms alive, though, this entire experience just shows how Henry was a big sack of soggy potatoes.
