triste
I hate him.
i want to yap about his lore so i will
triste was depicted solely as a 'sad clown' (le clown triste) and his brother was similar but didn't mind his portrayal . guiscard escaped his canvas before triste which enraged him, so he broke his brothers canvas and forced him to stay in his own while he wandered earth and desperately tried to connect with the humans that painted him. some 200 years later (modern day) guiscard finally escapes the painting which causes triste to desperately bring strangers to replace him in the painting (he feeds on the life of those in the painting if they're living) before he inevitably finds guiscard and forces him back into the painting. guiscard eventually befriends a little girl named celeste through her family buying the painting, and they hang out during the night so triste doesn't notice. when she is 10, celeste's family moves away and sells the painting to an art gallery, which triste uses to 'replace' his brother and tricks celeste into thinking he is guiscard. eventually when celeste is 15, triste convinces her to steal the painting as he wishes to burn it (which he believes will both kill guiscard and free himself from his life as a painting), but his plan ultimately fails because guiscard finally stands up for himself and pushes triste back into it. though after this confrontation they are friends because happy ending Lalalalala
