so i was on pinterest cuz i was lookin for kandi inspiration & i came across a post that in summary said “heterophobia is not real, teasing is not discrimination” (with a few colorful choice words of course)
i wanna preface with that i am in NO way saying heterophobia exists systemically speaking, rather that it does on a small scale as a concept. i agree that non-queer people are not oppressed by their governments and communities for their lack of queerness. HOWEVER, it’s a real thing??
a little anecdotal evidence for ya, i once met someone who didn’t believe that heterophobia was real either, and they were INSUFFERABLE about it. not that everyone who agrees with that is this way, it’s often just a cause of misinformation/lack of information, but BOY that was not the case here. they quite literally believed that anyone who wasn’t LGBT+ was inherently queer-phobic cuz they weren’t oppressed enough to possess sympathy towards queer people. bro??
that actively equates the validity of one’s queerness to their suffering as a queer person, but they’re also against transmedicalism. understandably so, i am too, but thats a blatant contradiction in their line of thinking 0_ō i tried to argue that on an individual level, yes there are people who get excluded and mistreated for being heterosexual. no it’s not to the severity nor extent which homophobia exists, but that does not invalidate it.

EDIT: do not support the creator of dandys world, qwelver (yes playing counts as support too because she gets money from it); she hired an old friend (rox) as a developer who turned out to be a pedophile (as far as were know she did not know at the time), but continued to keep contact AFTER she discovered and fired him. victims spoke out against this,,& she responded by sending them cease & desists then made an apology document that was very ambiguous, lacked emotion ,and felt very disingenuine to read through. granted, that couldve been because her pr team didnt allow her to speak too in depth on the subject, but this wouldnt have happened had she cut off rox & never send c&d's to his victims
