After messing around with different blending modes, I've (with help/inspiration) found a way to replicate paint texture. Combined with some brushes im working on this will sell the illusion of depth in ur paintings.
How to set it up:
1. draw as normal on a "normal" layer
2. add a new layer, make it black and put it on overlay on top of your drawing layer
3. make two duplicates of your drawing layer, one above and one below the drawing layer.
4. put the duplicate of you drawing layer thats above your main on "screen" blending mode, lock the opacity (LO) and paint it grey (#808080).
5. for the layer below ur main, have it on normal blending mode, lock the opacity and colour it grey (just like the screen layer).
6. Put your main drawing layer on a clipping group (CG).
7. Grab the "screen" layer and shift its position with the move tool ever so slightly to get the illusion of depth in the painting.
Additionally, you can add a paper texture on the bottom layer to make it look even more real.
Have fun!
Shoutout to @Dee Happy, @lilpaintr and @cklymon for help/inspiration.
