Briarberry was the only barrier between them and the drooling jaws of the beast, and she was determined to protect them at all costs.
The animal bristled, the air heavy with the hum of fear. Like the calm before the storm. It was eerily still like that for just the briefest of fleeting moments, as if even StarClan itself was questioning if its divine message was really the right choice, before the fox abruptly lunged at Briarberry, fangs showing in a starving snarl.
Briarberry screeched in pain as claws hit her side, blood flinging into the air. She didn't collapse, though, adrenaline in her veins and lingering hope keeping her upright.
“You won't take them!” Briarberry yowled, claws unsheathed and ripping into the fox’s red pelt within seconds. The creature began to writhe and howl in anguish, its head twisting to snap at Briarberry’s face. Its bite caught the side of her muzzle, and she screamed in utter agony as the left side of her snout was stripped off in a flash of gore and red. In revenge, Briarberry, enraged by the fox’s attack, attempted to blindly swing at the attacker with her claws, and, fortunately, she felt the dark satisfaction of having them slice through its fur.
That win did not last, though. The fox barreled towards her, throwing the she-cat to the ground so hard she couldn't breathe for a few seconds. Not that she needed to, not anymore.

Duskwater stood below the Stoneridge, ears flat against her head and head lowered. Ravenpearl watches from above with a sadistic gleam in her eyes. She was the judge, and she will get exactly what she wanted for Duskwater.
She lashed her tail once, her voice dark and commanding as the leader addressed the cats around Duskwater. “Cats of StoneClan, this she-cat before you, Duskwater, has been accused of murder of a fellow clanmate, or more known as her mate, Sparrowtail.”
There were horrified gasps around the gaggle of cats, making Duskwater slink back in shame and utter fear.
Ravenpearl continued nonetheless, whiskers merely twitching at the exaggerated reactions. “Duskwater, do you plead?”
Duskwater looked up, eyes slitted and fear-scent emitting off of her. “I do. I didn't kill him! Ivorydawn possessed me!” She hissed, begging for her leader to understand, but it was a lost cause.
“Quit with the ‘possession’ nonsense!” Ravenpearl snarled, claws digging into the dirt of the Stoneridge. “Our medicine cats will determine your fate, as you are clearly unreliable.” She was then back to her normal condescending self in an instant.
Duskwater could only watch in horror as the cats that she fought for only stood and looked down on her burning pelt, gauking and unhelpful to her situation.
Waveeye was the one to speak first among the jury of cats, his voice a whisper passed along down the gaggle of fur. The murmurs spread, and they only added to Duskwater’s fears as she couldn't understand what they were saying. Until they reached Ravenpearl, and her eyes widened with sick glee at the decision.
“You have been deemed guilty, Duskwater,” Ravenpearl told, her voice a misleading purr. “Your execution will be tonight!”
