@peculiar-exister nuh-uh first of all, u no say sry for writing an essay, you know I love when we analyze back and forth >:D And wait, not the irony of you experiencing the linguistic bottleneck while even talking about the linguistic bottleneck TvT loll ik we refer to it alot xD.
I really love your point about the speaker being concerned with their own behavior of avoidance. You're so right about the overwhelm and the self kinda preservation aspect? It's like, the speaker knowsss they can't stop time, so closing the door is the only microoofraction of control they have left in that moment, (even if it's an illusion ofc). and yeah the bright light def = overwhelm kinda reality and even asks more as a trigger to it.
(on a side note isn't it interesting how i can use light in different ways in different poems xD. cause in some poems as yk i use it moreso to represent the foreign concept of hope or calming, or just idk light lmao but this one kinda does the opposite rather than striving to reach some goal or experience the light the speaker actively tries to avoid it why did i put this giant paragraph in paratheses idek)
(also it's so crazy that a opem only 5 stanzas long xD can be analyzed so much when it might in some cases be seen simply as it's literal interpretation lolll like i couldn't imagine not thinking beyond it TvT to try and understand what it was abt tho ofc ik that analysis can be hard in general or you may not think to start it in the first places anyways i digresss)
Now you HAVE to tell me what else you wanted to say about the linguistic choices, please <- I love using this emoji now can you feel me stareing into your soul jay? can you can you?
@Nix ୭⋆｡˚ (semi-hiatus) Yeah, all of what u said actually crossed my mind when I was writing my previous comment lol, and for some reason I thought I was being clearer in my conveyal of that than I may have actually been (ig I thought my language pointed to that/left room to insinuate that within the broader statements I made, but maybe my heavily associative-thinking brain overestimated the room it left for those ideas to be visible in my comment). I suspect the room I left with my scalpel terminology likely inadvertently obscured my implicit inclusion of that nuance - SIDE NOTE, isn't it IRONIC I'm doing that very thing again in this comment?! Anyway lol, the intentful ignorance I mentioned is foreboding /because/ of the known presence of what is being avoided and its imminent inevitable arrival. The concern I touched on - on the speaker's behalf - also includes the concern they have for their own behavior of avoidance even while they shut out the truth of the triggering fact to try to preserve themself from the overwhelm of how it can't be stopped. I even had a moment during which I thought about how the high contrast and harsh brightness parallels discomforting truths and overwhelm :'D Every time someone extracts something from my words, it's on one hand awesome imo to see what they take of it, but simultaneously a bit gnawing in its reminding of the bottlenecks between what I think and what I write and what is extracted by others, lol xD like I have SOOOOO much I'd want to say, but I can't say all of it efficientlyyy lol (not that I have to, but wouldn't that be interesting?!). linguistic bottlenecks yaaaaayyyyy! also I have sooo much more to say on this poem lmao and ur linguistic choices - I could literally write an essay (not gonna do that here tho lol *cough- any more than I already have, anyhow* for the sake of this comment section, hehe). um. can you tell I love dissecting literature? /silly

I actually listened to the songs to get his vibe down, especially the Prometheus/sun deity concepts and the heavy crow wings motif from the Pigpen lyrics lol x)
For the design, I added an earthy, warm green like you mentioned. I gave him a cozy journalist/adventurer outfit, plus a travel cloak option. I also sketched two extra hairstyles to the right ^^
Honestly I just love his lore and design so much, he was incredibly fun to draw!!

Swapped her og frog hoodie for some cottagecore/practical gear for navigating the valley. (Also yes the 5 pages of google docs world-building lore was absolutely mandatory for this).

Anna's Hummingbird (Calypte anna) is one of my favorite little birds to spot around here. They're surprisingly common where I live, and it's incredibly mesmerizing when their feathers catch the sun.
I actually saw an immature male the other day, which was really cool! He had little patches of iridescence peeking through among the green.
This bird was such a fun one to work on! :33 I used a reference and definitely spent longer than I planned tweaking little details (and procrastinating lol), but I'm really happy with how the colors and feathers turned out in the end.
I love the Anna's hummingbird! Both of my grandparents have an innumerable amount of bird feeders for these guys, so their presence certainly isn't scarce in my life XD
Also: I love your texturing! I feel like you nailed the petite feathering of tiny birds so well :)

This one took me a bit of time to wrap up! I went back and forth for ages trying to figure out the exact color of her dress (still not entirely sure if it's green, grey, white, or what haha on the ref). I also used this piece to challenge myself and learn how to paint sun-dappled leaf lighting and shadows.

Meet my OC Mira! I've been working on her ref for artfight cough https://artfight.net/~Q1nix cough
Her personality is basically thoughtful, quiet, observant, deeply loyal, and a wry sense of humor. She has an older brother named Casmir who dreams of becoming a pilot. Mira of course is happy to keep her boots on the ground.
She spends her time hiking the valley they live in and exploring different caves for unique plants and fungi. She also enjoys birdwatching. Her frog companion, Tad, always accompanies her. Her satchel is mostly full of field guides, specimen jars, and whatever cool little treasures she manages to find.

The Resplendent Quetzal (Pharomachrus mocinno) lives high up in the misty mountain canopies of Mesoamerica and survives almost entirely on wild, miniature avocados!! They swallow the fruits whole, digest the flesh, and then spit the massive seeds back out completely clean, which helps plant entirely new forests!
This was such a blast to draw! :33 I used a ref and spent wayyyy too much time messing around with texture, and ended up creating a custom feather brush lol.

@peculiar-exister omg!! :33 i love your analysis so much! >w< <33 for the poem, i'd say the intent was really about just dreading tomorrow? like, the speaker knows the problem is waiting, but they're just trying to hide from it for a little bit because it's too much. lolll. Closing the door is like trying to shut out the harsh 'light' of reality right then because they just want to return to the safety of the dark. But I love your take on it too, especially the bee parallel! 
oooh rly intriguing and convention-defying prose :O I love the variety in sentence length and how that impacts how each part is received (especially with "the fridge a bee"). art-wise I love the surreal impressionistic pov with the glitchy feel and the way u use values to draw the eye to the point of focus - the splatter of light against the grooved and creviced dark, the beautifully rendered outstretched hand at the forefront. the depiction of the fridge as something organic - a bee - while the inorganic fridges we tend to use typically carry organic things - is an interesting irony and parallel to me. I love how the poem depicts the intentful ignorance of certain information that may be of the speaker's concern. Very relatable and foreboding, imagery-wise (in the poem and in the drawing).
