this entire jam is based off making an oc on the newly discovered Lucifer Bee species! i did a little reserach into what sets these bees apart from the rest and utilized that into my character design :) of course whats character design without a little worldbuilding.... and lore......
i love making ocs its always such a blast!! shoutout to the sweatshop for making this jam and being so welcoming-- heavily recommend you take a peek at what others made

@x_osseous ooh! yeah i figured you used color burn with how saturated some of the areas were (namely the red-purpleish areas) but its sick hearing your process!
i did a more monotone style of rendering with this where i started with a desaturated dark purple base and then layered on mottled green-tan and bright green (from the lighter) and then used the reds as front-lighting and purple as back-lighting to give it a bit of depth and texture-- and adding a multiply layer of brown-purple to areas closer to the viewer or to intensify shadows!
The way I got the color palette is by using a tan base then shading it with green, red, and blue (tiny bit of purple too) and then doing a color burn layer and erasing lightly where I want it brighter then adding highlights!
