A tribute to my ex favorite animal (it is now octopuses, but i used to be obsessed with phoenixs)

I was painting a friend's wedding banner and let the floor get super messy, then took a break and drew it. Still not the best at backgrounds, but they sure are fun to do-

so recently I haven't been liking how my sketchbooks turn out, so I decided to look at the favorite sketchbooks I made back in 7th grade and the summer before 8th. I realized that I had been trying to do clean line art too hard and was sacraficing the strengths that my artstyle already had. That might work for some people but my style had much more character and life messy... so with my new sketchbook i'm trying to presketch a lot less and dive right into things before i overthink inking. Hence here, where I just went straight into inking without a pencil. Definately has its flaws, but I think I brought a tinnyyyyy bit of my old artstyle's charm back, and for that i'm happy. :)
