animation process

some keyframes from my krita doc

this animation is based on the Ado remix of imagine dragon's 'Take Me to The Beach'— the main visual concept is when Ado ad libs 'take your hands off' in the song, a character holding a sword in a very static, front facing pose (left) draws it backwards, and we get this foreshortened dutch angle, as if the camera is attached at the tip of the sword and looking down at the character (middle). I need to finish my keyframes and start in betweening before I post another update, where I will decide whether I want to add color/background etc

things of note:
-I need to do my first pass (draft) quicker and with less detail so I can figure out design/proportions later on
-I've read a lot about Japanese animation and how the first pilot episodes of a show become the baseline for a character's look, so I've been trying to give more attention to these first few frames so I have a foundation for in between

-think I could be connecting lines more
-thicker brush
-need to evaluate again later for proportions
-design more dynamic shape language
-I want the designs in the future to be more daring, and to simplify a lot more, get away with a lot more bullshit in an interesting way
