Happy International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict!! (june 19)
Why does this day exist?
This day exists to raise awareness of sexual violence during conflict.
When is sexual violence used in "conflict"?
Sexual violent has been used in conflict during war, control over populations, and force displacement.
Who gets affected and what are the affects?
During conflict women and children are most likely to get affected by sexual violence. These actions can cause lasting affects on people. PTSD, difficult emotions, anxiety, flashbacks, and nightmares are common affects of sexual violence.
It can also affect the physical, mental, and emotional welbeing of a victem, their daily routine, social life, sleep, and relationsips (romantic or platonic).
Who is put to blame for sexual violence?
The victem is NEVER at fault for being sexually assulted, the blame will ALWAYS be put on the perpetrator no matter if the victem "led them on", was wearing someting revealing, or has a sex life/"sleeps around".
Who should you contact if you ever get sexually assulted?
If you ever get raped, sexually assulted, or groomed call authorities or the number your country uses for emergencies.
