the a ending in some last names means "daughter of" or "female counterpart" its a common pattern in the slavic language and I lowkey found that cool asf
which would mean nastasyas last name "ivanov" would be "ivanova" instead
also i just realized a little something that some russian woman last names end with an "a" or "ya" because its a grammatical feature of the russian language it marks the feminine gender for adjectives and family name derived from patrynomics or places that's so cool right
