Dare VS Nightmare

Despair's original name was Dare. He was actually more up to challenges back then, known to try to test anything that already exists, which for a guardian was a risky job. But due to his own Ambition being as strong as it was, he couldn't help but try to test what was already the way it was.

One man did the unthinkable, so after being told "Don't look back from now on" his grin grew wider, since now the permission to keep going forward was permitted. But he didn't always go in a straight path and he was known to break things before they landed the wrong way, which hasn't changed since he became "Despair" but it still held a different quality of him.

In my story he's what should have been Passive Nightmare, since an egotistical and cocky boy who tries to prove a point after all of the pain that impacted him, going through the cycles of the repeated emotions after old ones burned off due to Nightmare's deception. Even if Fate had the odds against him, his spirit had never burned this bright before, making it clear that this time it will be different.

Nightmare could tell the difference and it satisfied him to see what he was waiting for, even if he was the one who "grew the tree to be this resilient", but not through care... Through breaking it apart and watching it try to survive, watching the struggle was always his job as the Mare they had to face.
