Soft shimmering sunlight rested upon the two boy's faces. Jaxon rustled his feathers and turned towards Maverin.
"Mav," Vibrant red met cool blue. "I don't want to ever have to leave you."
Maverin chuckled, "I don't think you will. I mean what would ever make you think that?"
"I don't know."
Jaxon gazed back up at the dimming sky as he reached over to grasp at Maverin's hand. A whistling wind picked up around them. Jaxon wished he could tell Mav everything. That he really wouldn't be able to see him again. A single tear slipped down his cheek. Jaxon couldn't tell him. He couldn't. He was sorry.
