No.
No!
Why. After only a few months of being together again the world stripped him of Jaxon. Maverin's breath shuddered and he lifted his gaze to Imre.
Cold hate flooded through his veins and he lunged towards the murderer of his best friend. The man just side stepped him and pulled his short-sword from Jaxon's torso.
There was no way now he could get Imre. The sly man had already slipped into the saftey of the inner walls of Gravet. Maverin turned towards Jaxon's weak gasp.
Dropping to his knees, Maverin reached out for Jaxon's hand.
"Mav," dull red met cool blue. "Please don't- please don't leave."
Maverin squeezed Jaxon's hand. "I won't. Never."
A soft smile rested on Jaxon's face as he turned to look at the sky one last time.
"I forgive you." Maverin felt tears slip down his face. "Good-bye."
