There's no one right way to draw hands. Here are 15 ways artists on Magma drew theirs, and how you can learn from them.
In "hands", a public Art Jam on Magma that 18 artists joined (its description: "help me draw hands"), people filled one canvas with hands: loose line sketches, a hand drawn down to its bones, pairs shaded in greys. The two grey hands on the left (#112) are one of them.
Open the Art JamDraw from a reference, often your own other hand, and look at where the light sits on the knuckles and where the fingers bend. These artists painted skin, creases and shadow.
The study (#28) puts four hands side by side, each in a different skin tone and pose. One makes the rock sign with the index and little finger up, one is spread wide, and the creases where the fingers bend are picked out in slightly darker color.
In (#100) only a hand and forearm reach up toward a heart balloon. The fingers are spread and a little bent, with the thumb held apart, which is enough to show the reach.
Simplify the shapes, push the colors or turn the hand into something else. It still has to bend in the right places to read as a hand.
The robot hands (#136) make the structure easy to see: each finger is a row of separate segments with a joint between them. Real fingers work the same way, three segments each.
In (#12) most of the hand sits in violet shadow. Warm light only catches the edges of the fingers, the thumb and the wrist, and that edge light shows the shape.
Hands take practice, and quick sketches are how most artists get it. Draw your own hand in different poses, fast, and don't worry about finishing.
The artist of (#36) made a guide: a circle first, then the hand shape, then the fingers, with a reminder about fingertips. Below it, the same steps become a peace sign, an OK sign and an open hand.
The two grey sketches in (#112), a pointing hand and a half-open one, are shaded in a few tones. The artist's own caption: "10-15 mins (?)".

A hand has many small parts that bend at once, and small mistakes in length or joints stand out. Short fingers are the most common one: the middle finger is about as long as the palm.
