We’re always working to improve Magma and make your drawing experience even smoother. Here’s what we’ve been up to this month.
Perspective Grid Tool
We’re excited to introduce the world’s first collaborative perspective grid to Magma!
You can now create 1, 2, or 3-point perspective grids and customize the grid lines according to your needs.
All artists on a collaborative drawing can see each other’s perspective grids, allowing them to draw in alignment with the same horizon lines and vanishing points. This is designed to help artists work together; you can always hide perspective grid layers if you prefer.
Read more about it in our Perspective Grid guide.
Note: The Perspective Tool is currently in beta and is free for all users during the beta period.
New Layer Visibility Settings
We want to make the collaboration experience as smooth as possible and know that sometimes it’s preferable to switch visibility of layers without affecting users' experiences. So, you can now show or hide either your own or others’ layers without affecting what collaborators see when working on the canvas.
For example, you’ll be able to make certain layers visible to you but invisible to everyone else, or vice versa, hiding layers for yourself but not for collaborators. This will allow for more flexibility when collaborating with other artists.
Each layer now has two types of visibility settings: global (top icon) and personal (bottom icon). You can keep the personal visibility setting as inherited, meaning that it will be the same as the global setting, or customize it according to your needs.
Read more about it in our Layer Visibility guide.
Coming Up: Brush Engine Update
We’re working on some major improvements to our brush engine! This will offer an expanded range of brush customization settings and the option to save your favorite, unique brushes. The beta release date is planned for May – sign up here to be among the first users to try it out as beta testers.
We always want to improve and would love your thoughts on our new features! Go to the Feature Requests page in Magma to let us know how they’re working for you. We appreciate all your feedback – happy drawing!
