Magma is a good fit if

Where Krita is better
Krita gives you far more tools for free: brush engines, animation, vectors, masks and filters, all offline and open source. If you can install it and mostly paint alone, it's a great choice. Magma is for when you can't install anything, want to switch devices, or want to paint with other people.
Use both
Paint together in Magma, export a layered PSD, and keep working on it in Krita. Or open a Krita piece as a PSD in Magma to paint over it with friends.
Draw together
Send a link and your friends are on the same canvas, with voice chat. Classes use Magma to draw together on school laptops, and Art Jams bring artists from around the world onto one canvas.

Is there an online version of Krita?
No. Krita is a desktop app for Windows, macOS and Linux, with a beta for Android tablets. Magma is a painting app that runs in your browser.
Does Magma work on a Chromebook?
Yes. Magma runs in Chrome, so it works on Chromebooks, including school ones, with pen pressure on supported styluses.
Is Magma free like Krita?
Magma's Spark plan is free: a 4096 px canvas, 60 layers, layered PSD export and drawing with up to 30 people. Blaze ($9.99/month) raises the limits. Krita is completely free and open source.
Can I move my work between Magma and Krita?
Yes, through PSD files. Magma exports layered PSDs that Krita opens, and imports PSDs as layers.
